Easy gardening tips for spring 2018

Spring is finally upon us and it's the perfect time of year to get your garden in tip-top shape, but is there an easier way to make your garden look beautiful without all the back-breaking effort? Our experts discuss a few easy garden tips to quickly get your garden ready for spring and summer!

Save time on watering plants

If you want to spend more time enjoying your garden rather than watering it, why not choose plants that prefer drier soil conditions. Plants such as lavender, artemisia Powis castle, euphorbia, and echinops all require very little maintenance and water to thrive throughout the year. Most people choose to have fake flowers and plants as they can’t maintain real ones. By choosing drought-resistant plants, you can have the best of both worlds.

The bigger the pot the better

Did you know the bigger the plant pot you use the less time you need to water it? As large plant pots need more soil, it will retain more water and moisture so you don’t need to keep watering your flowers and plants throughout springtime. Make sure to keep a large saucer underneath your plant pots, so during hot weather your plants won’t dry out and will stay hydrated.

Build raised bed areas

One of the cons about gardening is the difficulty when bending down to attend to your plants and flowers. You can avoid this issue by creating raised beds in your garden at your chosen level, so digging, wedding and planting will become a lot easier! Remember that plants will need more moisture and nutrients so they soil you use must be good quality and contain these qualities.
