The different uses for pine sleepers

The different uses for pine sleepers

Pine sleepers can be used for a wide range of residential and commercial construction projects. Pine has the strength for a garden sleeper, but its softwood material makes it incredibly easy to work with. Pine can also withstand rot and wood boring insects making it the ideal solution for any garden landscape.

How can I use pine sleepers in my garden?

Vegetable beds

Pine sleepers make excellent raised vegetable beds. A raised vegetable bed is ideal for growing long root vegetables such as carrots. In the ground, long root vegetables can become misshapen and stunted - this can be avoided with the use of pine sleepers. Vegetable beds also offer great drainage properties, ideal for vegetables that perform poorly in water-logged conditions.

Flower beds

Pine sleepers are great for raised flower beds. They provide an excellent space to display an array of flowers. Since flowers can be grown in blocks, it encourages them to grow more uniformly as the competition between them is minimal. Raised flower beds can be more easily covered than in the ground, meaning you can grow even more beautiful flowers in your garden.

Landscaping, borders and edging

Pine sleepers are a popular choice for garden borders and edging. Functional and versatile, the natural beauty of pine sleepers adds rustic charm to a garden. Their softwood material also makes them easy to handle, perfect for cutting and drilling. Pine sleepers can be vertically or horizontally placed depending on what look you’re going for. Vertical borders allow you to vary the height of the border, and gives you the option for a curved wall. Horizonal borders are more traditional and are quicker and easier to erect.
